Dr. Behling believes that collaboration between health care providers and schools is key in helping a child or adolescent succeed. For most children, time spent at school is second only to time spent in the home. Teachers, classroom aides, school counselors, administration, and other staff members play a vital role in helping psychologists obtain important information about a child's psychological functioning, including academic performance, peer relationships, and overall emotional well-being.
If you would like to refer a student for counseling at SeaPsych, but aren't sure how approach the topic with the student's parent or caregiver, please contact Dr. Behling to discuss ways other educators have engaged in a respectful, sensitive discussion with parents about the potential benefits of meeting with a psychologist.
If one of your students is a current or former client of Dr. Behling, the parents (or the student, if he or she is 13 years of age or older) will need to complete and sign a release of information form allowing him to receive information from or share information with you. Please click here for a SeaPsych release of information form.
Dr. Behling is also available to speak at faculty meetings, parent nights, and other events hosted by your school. Please contact him directly to discuss how he can best meet your needs.
