Dr. Behling is committed to providing effective, evidence-based assessment and treatment for children, adolescents, and their families. During individual and family therapy sessions, he implements cognitive-behavioral approaches within the context of a responsive and supportive therapeutic relationship. Dr. Behling provides skills training, insight, and support for a variety of psychological concerns including defiance and acting out behaviors, trauma and maltreatment, inattention and hyperactivity, difficulty managing emotions, feelings of depression and anxiety, obsessions and compulsions, adjustment to changes such as loss of a loved one, coping with other life stressors, and more.

Dr. Behling has been formally trained and certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an evidence-based therapeutic approach for parents of children ages 2-7 that facilitates warm, secure parent-child relationships and increases caregiver capacity for managing difficult child behaviors. PCIT differs from many therapeutic parenting approaches in that parents are not simply taught skills and asked to practice them outside of session; rather, Dr. Behling observes parents using the target skills with their child(ren) and provides live coaching to help parents gain confidence and learn how to handle in-the-moment defiance or tantruming.
